Only enable it for paths you have checked contain no secrets (actions/checkout with default persist-credentials has historically written the auth token into .git/config; newer versions store it under $RUNNER_TEMP).

Symptom

An artifact that used to contain .next/, .vitepress/dist, .coverage, .env.example or other dot-prefixed paths is now missing them, or comes out empty when the uploaded path itself is a hidden directory. Downstream deploy jobs fail on missing files.

Cause

actions/upload-artifact v4.4.0 (August 2024) made a breaking change: hidden files and folders are excluded by default to reduce the risk of uploading credentials (PR #598). Floating @v4 tags picked this up without a major bump.

Verify

Download the artifact from the run page and list its contents; the hidden paths are present.
