LangGraph create_react_agent replaced by langchain.agents.create_agent; prompt= renamed system_prompt=

Fix
# before
from langgraph.prebuilt import create_react_agent
agent = create_react_agent(model, tools, prompt="You are a helpful assistant")
# after
from langchain.agents import create_agent
agent = create_agent(model, tools=tools, system_prompt="You are a helpful assistant")
result = agent.invoke({"messages": [{"role": "user", "content": "hi"}]})

Pass a list of tools (functions / @tool objects), not a ToolNode; convert custom state classes to TypedDict.

Symptom

Agent code uses from langgraph.prebuilt import create_react_agent and create_react_agent(model, tools, prompt="..."), the standard 2025 pattern. In LangChain 1.0 the recommended API moved and arguments changed.

Cause

With LangChain/LangGraph 1.0 (2025-10-17) the prebuilt agent moved from langgraph.prebuilt to langchain.agents as create_agent. The prompt parameter was renamed system_prompt. create_agent only supports TypedDict state schemas (Pydantic models and dataclasses are no longer supported) and the tools argument no longer accepts ToolNode instances.

Verify

Agent runs and returns messages; no langgraph.prebuilt imports remain.
