Fix

Transcription -> gpt-live-transcribe or gpt-transcribe. TTS -> gpt-realtime-2.1-mini (OpenAI points to the Realtime API guide for TTS migration). Plan the migration now; the replacement for TTS is a different API surface.

Symptom

Speech code defaults to whisper-1 for transcription and tts-1 for speech, the standard models in older examples.

Cause

  • 2026-08-26: whisper-1, gpt-4o-transcribe, gpt-4o-mini-transcribe, gpt-4o-transcribe-diarize deprecated; removed 2027-02-26.
  • 2026-10-01: tts-1, tts-1-hd, gpt-4o-mini-tts-2025-03-20, gpt-4o-mini-tts-2025-12-15 deprecated; removed 2027-01-06.

Verify

Usage dashboard shows no traffic on the deprecated audio models.
