After upgrading to React 19, a function component's Component.defaultProps = {...} no longer applies (props come through undefined), and Component.propTypes validation warnings stop appearing.
Cause
React 19 (stable 2024-12-05) removed propTypes checks entirely (they are silently ignored) and removed defaultProps for function components. defaultProps still works for class components only.
