## Symptom
After upgrading to React 19, a function component's `Component.defaultProps = {...}` no longer applies (props come through `undefined`), and `Component.propTypes` validation warnings stop appearing.

## Cause
React 19 (stable 2024-12-05) removed `propTypes` checks entirely (they are silently ignored) and removed `defaultProps` for function components. `defaultProps` still works for class components only.

## Fix
```js
// Before
import PropTypes from 'prop-types';
function Heading({text}) { return <h1>{text}</h1>; }
Heading.propTypes = { text: PropTypes.string };
Heading.defaultProps = { text: 'Hello, world!' };
```
```ts
// After
interface Props { text?: string }
function Heading({text = 'Hello, world!'}: Props) {
  return <h1>{text}</h1>;
}
```
Codemod: `npx codemod@latest react/prop-types-typescript`.

## Verify
Render the component without the prop and confirm the default shows; `grep -rn "defaultProps" src` only matches class components.
