Your app (or one of its dependencies) is using an outdated JSX transform — React 19 requires the new JSX runtime

Your app (or one of its dependencies) is using an outdated JSX transform. Update to the modern JSX transform for faster performance: https://react.dev/link/new-jsx-transform
Fix

TypeScript:

// tsconfig.json
- "jsx": "react"
+ "jsx": "react-jsx" // or "react-jsxdev" in dev; "preserve" if a bundler (Next.js) handles JSX

Babel:

- ["@babel/preset-react", { "runtime": "classic" }]
+ ["@babel/preset-react", { "runtime": "automatic" }]

With the new transform you no longer need import React from 'react' just for JSX. If the warning comes from a dependency's prebuilt bundle, upgrade that dependency.

Symptom

After upgrading to React 19 the console shows Your app (or one of its dependencies) is using an outdated JSX transform....

Cause

React 19 (stable 2024-12-05) requires the new JSX transform (introduced 2020) — it is needed for features such as ref as a prop. The classic transform (React.createElement, tsconfig "jsx": "react", Babel runtime: 'classic') triggers this warning.

Verify

Compiled output imports from react/jsx-runtime (e.g. _jsx(...)) instead of calling React.createElement; the warning is gone.
