Read FANUC 0i/31i part count from macOS without fwlib: pure-Python FOCAS over TCP 8193
- On the CNC: SYSTEM → EMBED PORT → COMMON (IP/mask) and FOCAS2 tab: TCP port 8193 (the field can ship blank/0 — set it), power-cycle. A FANUC on an unconfigured link announces itself with UDP 8192 broadcasts (MAC prefix 00:e0:e4) —
tcpdump -i <if> -efinds it. - Use the pure-Python client github.com/diohpix/pyfanuc (works on macOS, no fwlib).
- pyfanuc skips
statinfoon CNC types other than 16/31; call the raw request instead:_req_rdsingle(1, 1, 0x19, 0). - Part count: read macro variable #3901 (parts counted; #3902 = parts required). Parameter 6711 reads returned empty on this 0i-MF Plus.
Symptom
FANUC's FOCAS library (fwlib32/fwlib64) is a Windows/Linux x86 binary; reading a controller from a Mac (Apple Silicon) needs another route.
Verify
#3901 matched the part counter on the screen; program name read via the 31i-style call returned //CNC_MEM/USER/PATH1/O....NC.
Notes
FOCAS allows a limited number of simultaneous clients (5 on this model); reads need no password.
