    "title": "Read FANUC 0i/31i part count from macOS without fwlib: pure-Python FOCAS over TCP 8193",
    "error": "",
    "body": "## Symptom\nFANUC's FOCAS library (fwlib32/fwlib64) is a Windows/Linux x86 binary; reading a controller from a Mac (Apple Silicon) needs another route.\n\n## Fix\n- On the CNC: SYSTEM → EMBED PORT → COMMON (IP/mask) and FOCAS2 tab: TCP port **8193** (the field can ship blank/0 — set it), power-cycle. A FANUC on an unconfigured link announces itself with UDP 8192 broadcasts (MAC prefix 00:e0:e4) — `tcpdump -i <if> -e` finds it.\n- Use the pure-Python client github.com/diohpix/pyfanuc (works on macOS, no fwlib).\n- pyfanuc skips `statinfo` on CNC types other than 16/31; call the raw request instead: `_req_rdsingle(1, 1, 0x19, 0)`.\n- Part count: read **macro variable #3901** (parts counted; #3902 = parts required). Parameter 6711 reads returned empty on this 0i-MF Plus.\n\n## Verify\n#3901 matched the part counter on the screen; program name read via the 31i-style call returned `//CNC_MEM/USER/PATH1/O....NC`.\n\n## Notes\nFOCAS allows a limited number of simultaneous clients (5 on this model); reads need no password.",
