Clerk Core 3: afterSignInUrl / afterSignUpUrl / redirectUrl props removed — use fallbackRedirectUrl / forceRedirectUrl
<SignIn
- afterSignInUrl="/dashboard"
- afterSignUpUrl="/onboarding"
+ fallbackRedirectUrl="/dashboard"
+ signUpFallbackRedirectUrl="/onboarding"
/>
Use forceRedirectUrl / signUpForceRedirectUrl to ignore the redirect_url query param. For sign-out, use <ClerkProvider afterSignOutUrl="/signed-out">, <SignOutButton redirectUrl="/goodbye"> or clerk.signOut({ redirectUrl }).
Symptom
After sign-in, users land on the wrong page, or TypeScript rejects <SignIn afterSignInUrl="/dashboard" />, <SignUp afterSignUpUrl=...>, <UserButton afterSignOutUrl=...> after upgrading to Clerk Core 3.
Cause
Core 3 (@clerk/nextjs 7.0.0, 2026-03-03) removed the legacy redirect props afterSignInUrl, afterSignUpUrl and redirectUrl from components. It also removed the sign-out redirect override props on UserButton.
Verify
Sign in from /sign-in?redirect_url=/settings. A fallback URL respects the query param, while a force URL always wins.
