## Symptom
After `huggingface_hub` upgraded to 1.x (pulled in by transformers v5): `huggingface-cli login` / `huggingface-cli download` is not found; `from huggingface_hub import Repository, HfFolder, InferenceApi` fails; `hf_hub_download(..., resume_download=True, local_dir_use_symlinks=False)` raises on unknown kwargs; `except requests.HTTPError` stops catching Hub errors.

## Cause
huggingface_hub v1.0 (2025-10-27) is a breaking release: HTTP moved from `requests` to `httpx`; per-call proxies removed (env `HTTP_PROXY`/`HTTPS_PROXY` only); `huggingface-cli` removed in favour of `hf`; `Repository`, `HfFolder`, `InferenceApi` removed; `use_auth_token`, `resume_download`, `force_filename`, `local_dir_use_symlinks` removed; `hf_transfer` dropped (`HF_HUB_ENABLE_HF_TRANSFER` ignored, use `HF_XET_HIGH_PERFORMANCE`). Requires Python 3.9+.
