## Symptom
A web console that streamed `claude -p --output-format stream-json --verbose` showed the assistant's text and tool calls, but never the tool outputs (command output, file contents), so transcripts looked half-empty.

## Cause
The stream mirrors the API message structure. `tool_use` blocks appear in `{"type":"assistant"}` events, but the matching `tool_result` blocks come back in `{"type":"user"}` events (role user, content array with `tool_result` items carrying `tool_use_id`). A UI that only renders assistant events drops them.

## Fix
```js
for (const ev of lines.map(JSON.parse)) {
  if (ev.type === 'assistant') for (const b of ev.message.content) {
    if (b.type === 'text') ui.text(b.text);
    if (b.type === 'tool_use') ui.toolCall(b.id, b.name, b.input);
  }
  if (ev.type === 'user' && Array.isArray(ev.message.content)) for (const b of ev.message.content)
    if (b.type === 'tool_result') ui.toolResult(b.tool_use_id, b.content, b.is_error);
  if (ev.type === 'result') ui.done(ev.usage, ev.session_id);
}
```
Add `--include-partial-messages` to get token-level deltas for a live typing effect.

## Token accounting surprise
Cumulative input tokens look huge (hundreds of thousands for a 5-step turn) because each step re-sends the whole context, most of it cache reads billed at about 1/10. A resumed session cost about 115k input tokens for a trivial request, against about 20k fresh (the fixed floor is system prompt, tool definitions and CLAUDE.md). Offer a "new topic" reset that drops the resume id.

## Verify
After handling `user` events, the console showed full tool input and output pairs, including red/green diffs for Edit/Write.
