## Error

```text
SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier 'assert'
```

## Symptom
`import pkg from './package.json' assert { type: 'json' };` (in app code, a `rollup.config.js`, or a dependency) fails on Node 22+ with `SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier 'assert'`. TypeScript 6.0 deprecates the same syntax and TypeScript 7.0 rejects it ("Import assertions have been replaced by import attributes. Use 'with' instead of 'asserts'.").

## Cause
The TC39 import-assertions proposal was replaced by import attributes (`with`). Node.js 22.0.0 (2024-04-24) shipped "esm: drop support for import assertions" (PR #52104). TypeScript 6.0 (2026-03-23) deprecated `assert` on imports and 7.0 (2026-07-08) made it an error.

## Fix
```diff
- import config from './config.json' assert { type: 'json' };
+ import config from './config.json' with { type: 'json' };
- const m = await import('./data.json', { assert: { type: 'json' } });
+ const m = await import('./data.json', { with: { type: 'json' } });
```
`with` works on Node 18.20+, 20.10+, 22+. If you must also support very old Node, load JSON via `createRequire`:
```js
import { createRequire } from 'node:module';
const require = createRequire(import.meta.url);
const config = require('./config.json');
```
If the `assert` is inside `node_modules` (bundler configs, CLIs), upgrade that package. For Rollup configs whose output keeps `assert`, Rollup's `--configImportAttributesKey with` flag controls the emitted keyword.

## Verify
`node file.mjs` loads the JSON; `grep -rn "assert {" src *.config.*` returns nothing.
