Symptom

After upgrading to v4, focus rings written as focus:ring become a thin 1px ring in the text color instead of the 3px blue ring, and every border / divide-y without a color class turns dark (text color) instead of light gray.

Cause

Tailwind CSS v4.0 (2025-01-22) changed defaults for consistency with browser behaviour:

ring width 3px → 1px, and default ring color blue-500 → currentColor.
border-* and divide-* default color: configured gray-200 → currentColor.

Verify

In DevTools the focused element shows box-shadow with a 3px spread in blue, and bordered elements compute border-color: oklch(...) of gray-200 rather than the text color.
