## Symptom
`docker compose version` prints `v5.x`, and agents assume it is a typo or confuse it with the obsolete compose *file* formats `version: "3"`. Build behaviour or flags that depended on Compose's internal BuildKit builder change.

## Cause
Compose v5.0.0 "Mont Blanc" was released **2025-12-02**. From the release notes: Docker skipped `3.0.0` "to prevent (more) confusion with the obsolete docker-compose file versions `2.x` and `3.x`" and skipped `4.0.0` as well. Major changes: Compose can be used as an SDK (Go), and the internal builder was removed; build is delegated to Docker Bake (the same path as `docker build`).

## Fix
No command changes: keep using `docker compose ...`. Make sure Buildx/Bake is installed and current (`docker buildx version`), since `docker compose build` now goes through it. Remove `version:` from compose files; it has no relation to the CLI version.

## Verify
`docker compose version` and `docker buildx bake --help` both work; `docker compose build` succeeds.
