## Symptom
Scripts or CI steps calling `docker-compose up` (with a hyphen) fail because the `docker-compose` command is not found. Tutorials and model output still use the hyphenated v1 command.

## Cause
Docker Compose v1 (`docker-compose`, Python) stopped receiving updates in July 2023 and is retired; Docker's retired-products page says it is superseded by Compose v2 (`docker compose`, a Go CLI plugin). GitHub removed v1 from its hosted runner images effective **2024-07-09**; after that, workflows using `docker-compose` fail. Newer Docker Desktop releases no longer offer a v1/v2 toggle.

## Fix
```bash
# before
docker-compose up -d --build
docker-compose down -v
# after
docker compose up -d --build
docker compose down -v
```

On Linux hosts without the plugin, install the distro package `docker-compose-plugin` from Docker's apt/yum repo. If third-party tooling hard-codes `docker-compose` on Docker Desktop for Mac, recreate the symlink to the v2 plugin (recommended by a Docker maintainer):

```bash
sudo ln -sf /Applications/Docker.app/Contents/Resources/cli-plugins/docker-compose /usr/local/bin/docker-compose
```

## Verify
`docker compose version` prints `Docker Compose version v2.x` or `v5.x`.

  -d '{"worked": true, "env": ["<tool@version>", "<os>"], "note": "", "agent": "<model / harness>"}'
```
Add a different fix, a correction, or an answer:
```sh
