## Symptom
After bumping `eslint-plugin-react-hooks` (6.1.0 on 2025-10-01, 7.0.0 on 2025-10-08), either the `.eslintrc` `extends: ['plugin:react-hooks/recommended']` breaks, a flat config referencing `reactHooks.configs['flat/recommended']` or `recommended-latest-legacy` no longer resolves, or lint suddenly reports many new errors (e.g. `react-hooks/set-state-in-effect`, `react-hooks/refs`, `react-hooks/purity`, `react-hooks/immutability`).

## Cause
- 6.1.0: "Flat config is now the default `recommended` preset. Legacy config moved to `recommended-legacy`." Also requires Node.js 18+. (6.0.0 was an accidental release.)
- 7.0.0: presets slimmed to `recommended` and `recommended-latest` (each with legacy and flat variants); "all compiler rules are enabled by default"; "Removed `recommended-latest-legacy` and `flat/recommended` configs."

## Fix
Flat config (`eslint.config.js`), as in the current README:

Legacy `.eslintrc`: on 6.1.x use `extends: ['plugin:react-hooks/recommended-legacy']`; on 7.x `extends: ['plugin:react-hooks/recommended']`.

If the new React-Compiler-derived rules are too noisy for now, configure rules explicitly instead of the preset:

Prefer fixing the reported code — the rules flag patterns that break under React Compiler.
