Astro 5/6 content layer: entry.slug is gone (use entry.id) and entry.render() → render(entry) from astro:content

Fix
---
// src/pages/blog/[slug].astro
import { getCollection, render } from 'astro:content'

export async function getStaticPaths() {
  const posts = await getCollection('blog')
  return posts.map((post) => ({
    params: { slug: post.id },   // was: post.slug
    props: post,
  }))
}
const post = Astro.props
const { Content, headings } = await render(post)   // was: await post.render()
---
<Content />
// before
const entry = await getEntryBySlug('blog', slug)
// after
const entry = await getEntry('blog', slug)

Symptom

With Content Layer collections (default in Astro 5, the only option in Astro 6), post.slug is undefined, so getStaticPaths produces broken routes. await post.render() throws because entries no longer have a render method. Models still write params: { slug: post.slug } and post.render().

Cause

Astro 5.0 (2024-12-03) introduced the Content Layer API. Its entries are serializable plain objects: id is now the slug, there is no slug property, and rendering is a standalone function. Astro 6.0 (2026-03-10) removed the legacy API that still provided slug and entry.render(). The old filename-based id is now available as entry.filePath. getEntryBySlug() and getDataEntryById() were also removed; use getEntry().

Verify

npx astro build lists one generated route per entry, with the expected URL segments.
