## Symptom
After upgrading to TypeScript 6.0/7.0, `tsc` emits `./dist/src/index.js` instead of `./dist/index.js`, so `package.json` `main`/`bin`/start scripts point to a missing file.

## Cause
TypeScript 6.0 (2026-03-23) changed the `rootDir` default: it is now always the directory containing `tsconfig.json`, instead of being inferred as the common directory of all input files. TypeScript 7.0 keeps this default.

## Fix
Set it explicitly:

Use `"../src"`-style paths if the tsconfig lives in a subfolder and references files outside it.
