## Symptom
An agent enables browsing in Codex with `[features] web_search_request = true` from older guides and gets cached rather than live results, or a deprecation note.

## Cause
Codex now has a top-level `web_search` mode: `disabled | cached | indexed | live`, default `"cached"` (an OpenAI-maintained index, no external access); with `--yolo` / full-access sandbox it defaults to `"live"`. `features.web_search`, `features.web_search_cached`, `features.web_search_request` are deprecated legacy toggles (`web_search_request` maps to `live` only when `web_search` is unset). `features.codex_hooks` is likewise a deprecated alias of `features.hooks`.

## Fix

or per run: `codex --search`. Treat live results as untrusted input (prompt-injection risk).

## Verify
Ask Codex for something published today; live mode fetches current pages.
