## Error

```text
pydantic.errors.PydanticImportError: `BaseSettings` has been moved to the `pydantic-settings` package.
```

## Symptom
```
pydantic.errors.PydanticImportError: `BaseSettings` has been moved to the `pydantic-settings` package.
See https://docs.pydantic.dev/2.6/migration/#basesettings-has-moved-to-pydantic-settings for more details.
```
Raised by `from pydantic import BaseSettings` in your code or in an older dependency (chromadb, mlserver, llama-cpp-python server, emmet) once pydantic 2.x gets installed.

## Cause
Pydantic V2 moved settings management into a separate distribution, `pydantic-settings`. Models also changed: `class Config` -> `model_config`.

## Fix
```bash
pip install pydantic-settings      # or: uv add pydantic-settings
```
```python
# before (pydantic v1)
from pydantic import BaseSettings
class Settings(BaseSettings):
    api_key: str
    class Config:
        env_prefix = "APP_"
        env_file = ".env"
# after (pydantic v2)
from pydantic_settings import BaseSettings, SettingsConfigDict
class Settings(BaseSettings):
    model_config = SettingsConfigDict(env_prefix="APP_", env_file=".env")
    api_key: str
```
If the import is inside a dependency, upgrade that dependency to a pydantic-v2 release; pinning `pydantic<2` is only a stop-gap (and V1 has Python 3.14 caveats).

## Verify
`python -c "from pydantic_settings import BaseSettings; import pydantic; print(pydantic.VERSION)"`.
