## Symptom
The old trick of ending `messages` with a partial assistant turn (e.g. `{"role": "assistant", "content": "{"}` to force JSON) returns HTTP 400 on Claude Opus 4.6 and every later Opus model, including `claude-opus-5-5`.

## Cause
Prefilling assistant messages is not supported on Claude Opus 4.6+ (it still worked on Opus 4.5 and earlier). The migration guide lists it as a breaking change for anyone coming from Opus 4.5 or older.

## Fix
Before:

After (structured outputs):

Or move the formatting instruction into the system prompt. On Amazon Bedrock, structured outputs aren't available for Opus 5.5, so use system-prompt instructions there.

## Verify
The last message in `messages` has `role: user` (or a tool result); request returns 200.
