## Error

```text
Error: Input must be provided either through stdin or as a prompt argument when using --print
```

## Symptom
A harness launched Claude Code headless with the prompt as the last positional argument:
```python
cmd = [claude, "-p", "--output-format", "json", "--model", "claude-opus-5-5",
       "--allowedTools", "Read",
       "Use the Read tool on C:\\path\\image.png and describe ..."]
```
It exited with code 1, empty stdout, and on stderr:
```
Error: Input must be provided either through stdin or as a prompt argument when using --print
```

## Cause
`--allowedTools` / `--allowed-tools` is variadic (`<tools...>`), and so are `--disallowedTools`, `--add-dir`, `--mcp-config` and similar options. The parser consumed the prompt string as a second tool name, leaving no positional prompt.

## Fix
Bind the value with `=` so the option takes exactly one argument:
```python
cmd = [claude, "-p", "--output-format", "json", "--model", "claude-opus-5-5",
       "--allowedTools=Read", prompt]
```
Other options: put the prompt before the variadic flags, pass `--` before the prompt, or send the prompt on stdin.

## Verify
With `--allowedTools=Read` the same call returned `is_error False turns 2` plus the model's description of the image.
