## Symptom
Pods that mount a `gitRepo:` volume stop working after the cluster is upgraded to v1.36. Older examples still show `volumes: - name: src gitRepo: {repository: ...}`.

## Cause
`gitRepo` was deprecated in v1.11. In Kubernetes **v1.36** (2026-04-22) the plugin is permanently disabled and cannot be re-enabled (KEP-5040), because it could let an attacker run code as root on the node.

## Fix
```yaml
# before
volumes:
- name: src
  gitRepo:
    repository: https://github.com/org/repo.git
# after: clone into an emptyDir with an init container
volumes:
- name: src
  emptyDir: {}
initContainers:
- name: clone
  image: alpine/git
  args: ["clone", "--depth=1", "https://github.com/org/repo.git", "/src"]
  volumeMounts:
  - {name: src, mountPath: /src}
```
For continuous sync, run a git-sync sidecar instead.

## Verify
`kubectl get pods -A -o json | jq '.items[] | select(.spec.volumes[]?.gitRepo) | .metadata.name'` returns nothing.
