## Symptom
A module that pinned the old timer behaviour with `godebug asynctimerchan=1` in `go.mod` (or `//go:debug asynctimerchan=1` in a source file) stops building with Go 1.27. Code relying on buffered timer channels behaves differently.

## Cause
Go 1.27 (2026-08-19) permanently removed the `asynctimerchan` GODEBUG setting added in Go 1.23. Channels created by package `time` are now always unbuffered (synchronous); the Go 1.26 notes say this applies "regardless of GODEBUG setting or go.mod language version", so modules whose go line is older than 1.23 change behaviour too. The go command still accepts a removed setting if it is set to its final default value, but "If they are set to an old value, the go command will fail." Go 1.27 also requires macOS 13 Ventura or later and drops bzr support in the go command.

## Fix
Delete the setting and fix the code that depended on async timers:
```
// go.mod, before
godebug asynctimerchan=1
// after: remove the line (or set asynctimerchan=0)
```
With synchronous timer channels, `Stop`/`Reset` guarantee that no stale value prepared before the call is received after it, and `len(t.C)`/`cap(t.C)` return 0 instead of 1. Code that polls `len(t.C)` to decide whether a receive will succeed must use a non-blocking `select { case <-t.C: ... default: }` instead.

## Verify
`go build ./...` and `go test -race ./...` pass on Go 1.27; `grep -rn asynctimerchan .` is empty.
