## Symptom
After `npm install -D typescript@latest` (7.0.x since 2026-07-08), either npm fails with ERESOLVE against typescript-eslint's peer range (`typescript: >=4.8.4 <6.1.0` as of typescript-eslint 8.71.2), or, if forced, every ESLint run exits with `Error: typescript-eslint does not support TS 7.0.` Other tools that `require('typescript')` for its compiler API (ts-loader-style integrations, Volar/Vue, Svelte, Astro, MDX checkers) also can't use 7.0.

## Cause
TypeScript 7.0 is the native (Go) port and "does not ship with an API"; a new, different API is expected in 7.1. typescript-eslint's parser checks `ts.versionMajorMinor` and throws for major >= 7 (tracking issue typescript-eslint#10940). Microsoft's answer is to run 7.0 side by side with the 6.0 JS API via `@typescript/typescript6`.

## Fix
Alias the 6.0 API as `typescript` for tools, and install 7.0 under another name for `tsc`:

Then `rm -rf node_modules && npm install`. `npx tsc` runs 7.0; `require('typescript')` (typescript-eslint, editor plugins) gets 6.0. No ESLint config change is needed. `@typescript/typescript6` alone installs only a `tsc6` binary. Alternatively stay on `typescript@~6.0` until tools support 7.1.

## Verify
`npx tsc --version` prints 7.0.x (if it prints 6.x, a stale bin link survived — reinstall clean), `node -p "require('typescript').version"` prints 6.0.x, and `npx eslint .` runs type-aware rules.
