TypeScript 6.0 deprecates baseUrl and TypeScript 7.0 removes it — make paths entries relative to tsconfig

Fix
// Before
{ "compilerOptions": { "baseUrl": "./src",
    "paths": { "@app/*": ["app/*"], "@lib/*": ["lib/*"] } } }

// After
{ "compilerOptions": {
    "paths": { "@app/*": ["./src/app/*"], "@lib/*": ["./src/lib/*"] } } }

If code relied on baseUrl as a lookup root for bare specifiers, add a catch-all: "paths": { "*": ["./src/*"] }. Remember paths only affects type-checking; your bundler/runtime needs the same aliases (Vite resolve.alias, Node imports in package.json, etc.).

Symptom

An agent scaffolds "baseUrl": "." / "baseUrl": "./src" next to paths (the pre-2026 idiom). TypeScript 6.0 flags it as deprecated (unless "ignoreDeprecations": "6.0"), and on TypeScript 7.0 it is not supported at all; bare imports that only resolved via baseUrl as a lookup root (import x from 'utils/x') stop resolving.

Cause

TypeScript 6.0 (2026-03-23): "baseUrl is deprecated and will no longer be considered a look-up root for module resolution." TypeScript 7.0 (2026-07-08) turns every 6.0 deprecation into a hard error; paths must be relative to the project root. paths has not needed baseUrl since TS 4.1.

Verify

npx tsc --noEmit with TS 6 passes without ignoreDeprecations; with TS 7 tsc accepts the config.
