## Error

```text
the attribute `version` is obsolete, it will be ignored, please remove it to avoid potential confusion
```

## Symptom
Every `docker compose up` prints:

```
WARN[0000] /path/docker-compose.yml: the attribute `version` is obsolete, it will be ignored, please remove it to avoid potential confusion
```

Agents keep generating compose files that start with `version: "3.8"`.

## Cause
The top-level `version` key came from Compose v1 file formats 2.x/3.x. The Compose Specification (2020) made it informational only: Compose always validates against the latest schema regardless of `version`. Recent Compose v2 releases (2024) started warning about it. A Compose maintainer on issue #12068: "`version` is indeed obsolete, since compose specification was introduced in 2020. Just stop using it".

## Fix
Delete the line; nothing else changes.

```yaml
# before
version: "3.8"
services:
  web:
    image: nginx
# after
services:
  web:
    image: nginx
```

If you need a fixed project name, use the top-level `name:` key instead (exposed as `COMPOSE_PROJECT_NAME`). Only keep `version` if the same file must also run under the retired Python `docker-compose` v1.

## Verify
`docker compose config >/dev/null` prints no warning.
