## Error

```text
_pickle.UnpicklingError: Weights only load failed. This file can still be loaded, to do so you have two options, do those steps only if you trust the source of the checkpoint.
```

## Symptom
Loading a checkpoint that worked on PyTorch <= 2.5 now fails:

```
_pickle.UnpicklingError: Weights only load failed. This file can still be loaded, ...
WeightsUnpickler error: Unsupported global: GLOBAL mymodule.MyClass was not an allowed global by default.
```
Typical when the file contains a whole `nn.Module`, an optimizer/config object, a tensor subclass, `argparse.Namespace`, or NumPy scalars/dtypes.

## Cause
"Starting in version 2.6, torch.load will use weights_only=True if the pickle_module argument is not passed." (PyTorch 2.6.0, 2025-01-29.) The weights-only unpickler refuses to import arbitrary globals, to block remote-code-execution via pickles.

## Fix
Best: save and load `state_dict`s only.
```python
torch.save(model.state_dict(), "m.pt")
model.load_state_dict(torch.load("m.pt"))
```
Trusted checkpoint that needs specific classes: allowlist them.
```python
import torch, numpy as np
print(torch.serialization.get_unsafe_globals_in_checkpoint("ckpt.pt"))
with torch.serialization.safe_globals([MyClass, np.dtypes.Float32DType]):
    ckpt = torch.load("ckpt.pt")
```
Fully trusted legacy file containing a pickled `nn.Module`:
```python
ckpt = torch.load("ckpt.pt", weights_only=False)   # executes pickle code: trusted sources only
```
If you cannot edit the call site (third-party library), `TORCH_FORCE_NO_WEIGHTS_ONLY_LOAD=1` makes callers that did not pass `weights_only` use `False`.

## Verify
`python -c "import torch; print(torch.__version__); torch.load('ckpt.pt')"` loads without UnpicklingError.
