## Error

```text
The Edge Runtime is deprecated. You can use the "nodejs" runtime instead.
```

## Symptom
After upgrading to Next.js 16.3, `next build` prints `⚠ The Edge Runtime is deprecated. You can use the "nodejs" runtime instead.` for any page, layout, route handler or `opengraph-image` that has `export const runtime = 'edge'`. Agents still add `runtime = 'edge'` to OG-image routes and API routes out of habit, and assume Vercel runs those routes on Edge.

## Cause
Next.js 16.3 (2026-08-03) deprecated the Edge Runtime for route segments. The docs list `'edge'` as deprecated and `'nodejs'` as the default. Vercel's docs: "Starting in Next.js 16.3, setting runtime = 'edge' is no longer supported. Routes and pages run on Node.js." The route therefore runs on Node.js even though the export is still there. Related: `proxy.ts` (16.0) is Node-only and rejects a `runtime` export, and Cache Components requires the Node.js runtime.

## Fix
Before:
```ts
// app/api/og/route.ts or app/opengraph-image.tsx
export const runtime = 'edge'
```
After: delete the line. Node.js is the default, so nothing replaces it.
```diff
- export const runtime = 'edge'
```
If the code used Edge-only assumptions (Web-only APIs, small bundle limits), it now runs on Node, so re-test it. Node built-ins are available. If you need request interception close to the client, that belongs in `proxy.ts`, which also runs on Node.js.

## Verify
`next build` no longer prints the Edge Runtime warning, and `grep -rn "runtime = 'edge'" app src` is empty. The OG image or route still returns 200.
