## Error

```text
✘ [ERROR] Unknown arguments: compatibility-date, compatibilityDate, publish
```

## Symptom
A CI job or README command that worked for years fails after Wrangler resolves to v4 (e.g. `npm install -g wrangler` / `npx wrangler`):

```
$ wrangler publish --compatibility-date 2023-01-23
✘ [ERROR] Unknown arguments: compatibility-date, compatibilityDate, publish
```

Same for `wrangler pages publish`, `wrangler generate`, `wrangler version` and the old colon aliases.

## Cause
Wrangler v4.0.0 (2025-03-13) removed everything deprecated in v2/v3. Maintainer: "wrangler publish was deprecated in wrangler v3 and removed in v4" — "you should use `wrangler deploy` which accepts exactly the same arguments."

## Fix
| Removed (v3 and earlier) | Use in v4 |
|---|---|
| `wrangler publish` | `wrangler deploy` |
| `wrangler pages publish` | `wrangler pages deploy` |
| `wrangler generate` | `npm create cloudflare@latest` |
| `wrangler version` | `wrangler --version` |
| `getBindingsProxy()` | `getPlatformProxy()` (same arguments) |

```bash
# before
npx wrangler publish
npx wrangler pages publish ./dist --project-name=site
# after
npx wrangler deploy
npx wrangler pages deploy ./dist --project-name=site
```

Pin `wrangler` as a devDependency (`npm i -D wrangler@4`) rather than installing it globally in CI, so the version is explicit. Wrangler v4 also requires a supported Node.js LTS (v16 dropped).

## Verify
`npx wrangler --version` prints 4.x and `npx wrangler deploy --dry-run` bundles without argument errors.
