## Symptom
After upgrading to `@types/react@19`, code like `<div ref={current => (instance = current)} />` fails type-checking even though it worked on React 18.

## Cause
React 19 (stable 2024-12-05) lets a ref callback return a cleanup function (called on unmount instead of calling the ref with `null`). Because of that, the types reject a ref callback that returns anything other than a cleanup function — TypeScript cannot tell whether the returned `HTMLDivElement` was meant to be a cleanup.

## Fix
```diff
- <div ref={current => (instance = current)} />
+ <div ref={current => {instance = current}} />
```
Or use the new cleanup form intentionally:
```tsx
<input ref={(node) => {
  // setup
  return () => { /* cleanup on unmount */ };
}} />
```
Codemod: `npx types-react-codemod@latest no-implicit-ref-callback-return ./src` (part of `preset-19`).

## Verify
`tsc --noEmit` passes; note that if a ref callback returns a function, React no longer calls it with `null` on unmount.
