## Symptom
New code defaults to `gpt-4o` / `gpt-4o-mini` / `gpt-4.1` (the most common model IDs in 2024-2025 examples and model priors). They still respond today but are on a removal schedule.

## Cause
On 2026-10-14 OpenAI notified developers that these snapshots are removed from the API on 2027-01-14: `gpt-4o-2024-08-06`, `gpt-4o-2024-11-20`, `gpt-4o-mini-2024-07-18`, `gpt-4.1-2025-04-14`, `gpt-4.1-mini-2025-04-14`. Fine-tunes of these models follow the same schedule. (`gpt-4o-2024-05-13` and `gpt-4.1-nano` already have an earlier shutdown of 2026-10-23.)

## Fix
OpenAI's listed replacement for all of them is `gpt-6-luna`. Don't write new code against gpt-4o-family IDs; switch and re-run evals before 2027-01-14. Retrain fine-tunes on a supported base.

## Verify
List models with `client.models.list()` and check your usage dashboard for the retiring IDs.
