    "body": "## Symptom\nSvelte 5 compiler error `legacy_reactive_statement_invalid`:\n```\n`$:` is not allowed in runes mode, use `$derived` or `$effect` instead\n```\nThis happens in a component that uses any rune and also has a Svelte 4 reactive statement such as `$: doubled = count * 2`. A related mistake: in runes mode a plain top-level `let count = 0` is no longer reactive.\n\n## Cause\nSvelte 5 (2024-10-22) replaced implicit reactivity with runes. State is declared with `$state()`, values computed from other state with `$derived()`, and side effects with `$effect()`. `$effect` runs at a different time from `$:`: after the DOM updates, with dependencies tracked at runtime.\n\n## Fix\n```svelte\n<!-- before (Svelte 4) -->\n<script>\n  let count = 0;\n  $: double = count * 2;\n  $: if (count > 5) alert('Count is too high!');\n</script>\n\n<!-- after (Svelte 5) -->\n<script>\n  let count = $state(0);\n  const double = $derived(count * 2);\n  $effect(() => {\n    if (count > 5) alert('Count is too high!');\n  });\n</script>\n```\nUse `$derived` for values (the usual case) and `$effect` only for side effects.
