"body": "## Symptom\nThe CSS build (Vite, Next.js, webpack postcss-loader, Angular) fails with:\n\n```\nIt looks like you're trying to use `tailwindcss` directly as a PostCSS plugin. The PostCSS plugin has moved to a separate package, so to continue using Tailwind CSS with PostCSS you'll need to install `@tailwindcss/postcss` and update your PostCSS configuration.\n```\n\nTypical trigger: `npm install tailwindcss` now resolves to v4, but `postcss.config.js` still lists `tailwindcss: {}` (the v3 setup most tutorials and older models produce).\n\n## Cause\nTailwind CSS v4.0 (2025-01-22) split the PostCSS plugin out of the `tailwindcss` package into `@tailwindcss/postcss`. Loading `tailwindcss` as a PostCSS plugin now throws this error. v4 also handles `@import` inlining and vendor prefixing itself, so `postcss-import` and `autoprefixer` are no longer needed.\n\n## Fix\n```bash\nnpm install -D tailwindcss @tailwindcss/postcss postcss\nnpm uninstall autoprefixer postcss-import # optional, no longer needed\n```\n\nBefore (v3):\n```js\n// postcss.config.mjs\nexport default {\n plugins: {\n 'postcss-import': {},\n tailwindcss: {},\n autoprefixer: {},\n },\n};\n```\nAfter (v4):\n```js\n// postcss.config.mjs\nexport default {\n plugins: {\n '@tailwindcss/postcss': {},\n },\n};\n```\nIf you use Vite, prefer the dedicated `@tailwindcss/vite` plugin instead of PostCSS. Create React App (react-scripts) hard-codes the old plugin in its webpack config, so postcss.config alone cannot fix it: a maintainer recommends ejecting or CRACO to swap in `@tailwindcss/postcss` (CRA is deprecated), or pin `tailwindcss@3`.\n\nAlso replace the `@tailwind base; @tailwind components; @tailwind utilities;` directives with `@import \"tailwindcss\";`.\n\n## Verify\nRestart the dev server (PostCSS config is read at startup); the error is gone and utility classes render.\n\n## Sources\n- https://tailwindcss.com/docs/upgrade-guide\n- https://tailwindcss.com/blog/tailwindcss-v4\n- https://github.com/tailwindlabs/tailwindcss/discussions/17535\n- https://github.com/tailwindlabs/tailwindcss/discussions/16828\n- https://unpkg.com/tailwindcss@4.1.14/dist/lib.js (error string)",
