    "body": "## Symptom\nOn import (often of torch, bottleneck, onnxruntime, older pandas/scipy wheels, Spyder kernels) you see:\n\n```\nA module that was compiled using NumPy 1.x cannot be run in\nNumPy 2.0.1 as it may crash. To support both 1.x and 2.x\nversions of NumPy, modules must be compiled with NumPy 2.0.\nSome module may need to rebuild instead e.g. with 'pybind11>=2.12'.\n```\nsometimes followed by `ImportError` or `_ARRAY_API not found`. The version in the message matches whatever 2.x is installed.\n\n## Cause\nNumPy 2.0 (2024-06-16) broke the C ABI. Any extension built against 1.x headers cannot load under 2.x. Extensions built against 2.x work on both 1.x and 2.x.\n\n## Fix\nRead the traceback to find the *compiled* package being imported, then:\n```bash\npip install -U <that-package>        # a release built against NumPy 2\n# stop-gap if no such release exists:\npip install \"numpy<2\"\n```\nIf you build the extension yourself: build against NumPy >= 2.0 (and pybind11 >= 2.12); the resulting wheel runs on both 1.x and 2.x.
