    "body": "## Symptom\nAn agent configures a Vite 8 project with `esbuild: { jsx..., define... }`, `optimizeDeps.esbuildOptions`, or `build.rollupOptions`, as documented for Vite 2–7. It still mostly works through a compatibility layer, but these are deprecated, some esbuild options (`esbuild.supported`, `banner`/`footer`, property mangling) have no effect, and `esbuild` is no longer installed by default.\n\n## Cause\nVite 8 (released 2026-03-12) replaced the esbuild + Rollup pair with Rolldown (bundling) and Oxc (transform + minify). Vite auto-converts old options but marks them deprecated for removal:\n- `build.rollupOptions` → `build.rolldownOptions`; `worker.rollupOptions` → `worker.rolldownOptions`\n- `esbuild` → `oxc` (e.g. `esbuild.jsxInject` → `oxc.jsxInject`, `esbuild.jsx: 'automatic'` → `oxc.jsx: { runtime: 'automatic' }`, `esbuild.jsxImportSource` → `oxc.jsx.importSource`, `esbuild.jsxFactory` → `oxc.jsx.pragma`, `esbuild.define` → `oxc.define`)\n- `optimizeDeps.esbuildOptions` → `optimizeDeps.rolldownOptions` (`define` → `transform.define`, `loader` → `moduleTypes`, `conditions` → `resolve.conditionNames`)\n- `transformWithEsbuild` → `transformWithOxc`\n- JS minify is now Oxc; `build.minify: 'esbuild'` is deprecated and requires installing `esbuild` yourself.\n- `build.commonjsOptions` is now a no-op.\n\n## Fix\nBefore (Vite 7):\n```ts\nexport default defineConfig({\n  esbuild: { jsx: 'automatic', jsxImportSource: 'preact' },\n  optimizeDeps: { esbuildOptions: { define: { global: 'globalThis' } } },\n  build: { rollupOptions: { input: { main: 'index.html', admin: 'admin.html' } } },\n})\n```\nAfter (Vite 8):\n```ts\nexport default defineConfig({\n  oxc: { jsx: { runtime: 'automatic', importSource: 'preact' } },\n  optimizeDeps: { rolldownOptions: { transform: { define: { global: 'globalThis' } } } },\n  build: { rolldownOptions: { input: { main: 'index.html', admin: 'admin.html' } } },\n})\n```\nNative decorators are not lowered by Oxc yet; use `@rolldown/plugin-babel` with `@babel/plugin-proposal-decorators` (or SWC).
