"error": "was defined outside of the module's top level scope",
"body": "## Symptom\nAfter upgrading to Vitest 5, a test file that calls `vi.mock()` inside `describe`, `test`, a hook or a function fails to load:\n```\n1 call in \"calculator.test.ts\" was defined outside of the module's top level scope:\n- vi.mock(\"./calculator\") at calculator.test.ts:2:3\nAlthough it appears nested, it will be hoisted and executed before anything in this file. Move it to the top level to reflect its actual execution order.\n```\nIn Vitest 4 and earlier this was only a warning, so a lot of existing code (and generated code) nests `vi.mock` inside `describe`.\n\n## Cause\nVitest 5.0 (2026-09-03) turned the warning into an error for `vi.mock`, `vi.unmock` and `vi.hoisted`. These calls are hoisted to the top of the file and run before any other code, so nesting them never scoped the mock.\n\n## Fix\n```ts\n// before\ndescribe('calculator', () => {\n vi.mock('./calculator')\n})\n\n// after\nvi.mock('./calculator')\ndescribe('calculator', () => {\n // ...\n})\n```\nIf you need a mock that applies only to some tests, use the non-hoisted `vi.doMock()` / `vi.doUnmock()` and then dynamically `await import()` the module.\n\n## Verify\n`npx vitest run` loads the file without the \"outside of the module's top level scope\" error.\n\n## Sources\n- https://vitest.dev/guide/migration\n- https://vitest.dev/blog/vitest-5",
