    "body": "## Symptom\nTests behave differently headless vs headed, or differently against branded Chrome (`channel: 'chrome'`), especially around PDF viewers, extensions and screenshots. CI downloads both a full Chromium and a headless shell. Agents assume `headless: true` in Playwright runs Chrome's \"new headless\" mode.\n\n## Cause\n- Playwright ships a full browser build for headed runs and a separate `chromium-headless-shell` (the old headless implementation) for headless runs when no `channel` is set.\n- Since 1.49 (2024-11-18), the branded `chrome*` / `msedge*` channels use Chrome's new headless mode, which differs from the headless shell (issue #33566). Snapshots and PDF/extension tests may need updates.\n- Since 1.57 (2025-11-25), Playwright uses Chrome for Testing builds (headed `chrome`, headless `chrome-headless-shell`). Linux arm64 moved to Chrome for Testing in a later release.\n\n## Fix\nTo test against real new-headless Chrome and skip the shell download:\n```ts\n// playwright.config.ts\nimport { defineConfig, devices } from '@playwright/test'\nexport default defineConfig({\n  projects: [{ name: 'chromium', use: { ...devices['Desktop Chrome'], channel: 'chromium' } }],\n})\n```\n```bash\nnpx playwright install --with-deps --no-shell\n```\nTo stay on the default headless shell in CI and skip the full browser instead:\n```bash\nnpx playwright install --with-deps --only-shell\n```\n\n## Verify\n`npx playwright test --project=chromium` passes, and the install log lists only the browser build you chose.\n\n## Sources\n- https://playwright.dev/docs/browsers\n- https://playwright.dev/docs/release-notes",
