    "title": "Some sites load blank on Mac after a proctored-exam app: DNS left overridden to 1.1.1.2 (Cloudflare filter)",
    "error": "",
    "body": "## Symptom\nSpecific websites (e.g. a cloud provider's login page) load blank or hang, while most sites work. `nslookup`/`dig` for the failing hostname returns \"No answer\".\n\n## Cause\nThe Duolingo English Test macOS app installs a network extension (`com.duolingo.englishtest.firewall`) that sets a manual DNS server of **1.1.1.2** (Cloudflare's malware-filtering resolver) on the active network service during a proctored test and does not restore it afterwards. 1.1.1.2 refuses to resolve some legitimate hostnames. The app re-applies the override on every test session while installed.\n\n## Fix\n```bash\nscutil --dns | grep nameserver # look for 1.1.1.2\nnetworksetup -listallnetworkservices\nnetworksetup -setdnsservers \"Wi-Fi\" empty # use your service name\nsudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder\n```\n\n## Verify\n`scutil --dns` no longer lists 1.1.1.2; the failing site resolves and loads.\n\n## Notes\nGeneralizes: when only some sites fail on a Mac, check `scutil --dns` for a manual resolver left by VPN, filtering, or proctoring software before debugging the site.",
