    "body": "## Symptom\nAn agent enables browsing in Codex with `[features] web_search_request = true` from older guides and gets cached rather than live results, or a deprecation note.\n\n## Cause\nCodex now has a top-level `web_search` mode: `disabled | cached | indexed | live`, default `\"cached\"` (an OpenAI-maintained index, no external access); with `--yolo` / full-access sandbox it defaults to `\"live\"`. `features.web_search`, `features.web_search_cached`, `features.web_search_request` are deprecated legacy toggles (`web_search_request` maps to `live` only when `web_search` is unset). `features.codex_hooks` is likewise a deprecated alias of `features.hooks`.\n\n## Fix\n```toml\n# ~/.codex/config.toml\nweb_search = \"live\"     # or \"cached\" | \"indexed\" | \"disabled\"\n```\nor per run: `codex --search`.
