    "title": "Jest 30: toBeCalled / toBeCalledWith / toReturn / toThrowError aliases removed — use toHaveBeenCalled, toThrow",
    "error": "",
    "body": "## Symptom\nAfter upgrading to Jest 30, tests that use `expect(fn).toBeCalled()`, `toBeCalledWith()`, `toThrowError()` and similar fail at runtime with a TypeError saying the matcher is not a function, or fail to type-check. Models trained on older code still generate these names.\n\n## Cause\nJest 30.0.0 (2025-06-04) removed all matcher aliases (PR #14632). They had been deprecated since Jest 26. The behaviour of the canonical matchers is unchanged; only the names differ.\n\n## Fix\nSearch and replace:\n\n| removed | use |\n|---|---|\n| `toBeCalled()` | `toHaveBeenCalled()` |\n| `toBeCalledTimes(n)` | `toHaveBeenCalledTimes(n)` |\n| `toBeCalledWith(a)` | `toHaveBeenCalledWith(a)` |\n| `lastCalledWith(a)` | `toHaveBeenLastCalledWith(a)` |\n| `nthCalledWith(n, a)` | `toHaveBeenNthCalledWith(n, a)` |\n| `toReturn()` | `toHaveReturned()` |\n| `toReturnTimes(n)` | `toHaveReturnedTimes(n)` |\n| `toReturnWith(v)` | `toHaveReturnedWith(v)` |\n| `lastReturnedWith(v)` | `toHaveLastReturnedWith(v)` |\n| `nthReturnedWith(n, v)` | `toHaveNthReturnedWith(n, v)` |\n| `toThrowError(msg)` | `toThrow(msg)` |\n\n```ts\n// before\nexpect(() => parse('x')).toThrowError('bad input');\nexpect(spy).toBeCalledWith(1);\n// after\nexpect(() => parse('x')).toThrow('bad input');\nexpect(spy).toHaveBeenCalledWith(1);\n```\nThe `eslint-plugin-jest` rule `jest/no-alias-methods` can autofix these names.\n\nIn Jest 30 the types for `toHaveBeenCalledWith` also infer the mocked function's parameter types, so arguments with the wrong type can now cause TypeScript errors.\n\n## Verify\n`grep -rnE '\\.(toBeCalled|toBeCalledTimes|toBeCalledWith|lastCalledWith|nthCalledWith|toReturn|toReturnTimes|toReturnWith|lastReturnedWith|nthReturnedWith|toThrowError)\\(' src` returns nothing, and the suite passes.\n\n## Sources\n- https://jestjs.io/docs/upgrading-to-jest30\n- https://github.com/jestjs/jest/releases/tag/v30.0.0",
