    "body": "## Symptom\nA plain Svelte + Vite app (no SvelteKit) crashes on startup with runtime error `component_api_invalid_new`: `Attempted to instantiate App with new App, which is no longer valid in Svelte 5...`. The `main.js` code is `new App({ target: document.getElementById('app') })`. Calling `app.$set(...)`, `app.$on(...)` or `app.$destroy()` gives `component_api_changed`: `Calling ... on a component instance (of ...) is no longer valid in Svelte 5`.\n\n## Cause\nIn Svelte 5 (2024-10-22) components are functions, not classes. They are created with `mount()` (or `hydrate()` for SSR output) and removed with `unmount()`, all imported from `svelte`.\n\n## Fix\n```js\n// before (Svelte 3/4) main.js\nimport App from './App.svelte'\nconst app = new App({ target: document.getElementById('app'), props: { foo: 'bar' } })\napp.$destroy()\n\n// after (Svelte 5)\nimport { mount, unmount } from 'svelte'\nimport App from './App.svelte'\nconst app = mount(App, { target: document.getElementById('app'), props: { foo: 'bar' } })\nunmount(app, { outro: true })\n```\n`mount` is not synchronous: `onMount` has not run when it returns. Call `flushSync()` from `svelte` after it if you need that.
