    "body": "## Symptom\nScreenshotting app pages from the command line:\n\n```bash\n\"/Applications/Google Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google Chrome\" --headless=new --disable-gpu \\\n  --hide-scrollbars --user-data-dir=/tmp/prof --virtual-time-budget=9000 \\\n  --window-size=1900,1100 --screenshot=/tmp/sheet.png https://example.com/\n```\nworked for the first static page. It then hung until the 180 s tool timeout on pages that poll an API or tick a clock every second. Several shots ran in sequence, so they blocked each other.\n\n## Cause\nWith a page that keeps scheduling timers and fetches, headless Chrome often writes the PNG and then never exits, or never decides the page is done. `--virtual-time-budget` did not stop it for these pages. macOS has no GNU `timeout` by default.\n\n## Fix\nGive each shot its own profile directory, a `--timeout`, and a hard kill wrapper. `perl -e 'alarm N; exec @ARGV'` acts as a portable `timeout` on macOS:\n\n```bash\nshot(){ perl -e 'alarm 40; exec @ARGV' \"$CHROME\" --headless=new --disable-gpu --hide-scrollbars \\\n   --user-data-dir=/tmp/prof-$1 --timeout=7000 --window-size=$3 --screenshot=/tmp/$1.png \"$2\" >/dev/null 2>&1\n   pkill -f \"user-data-dir=/tmp/prof-$1\"; }\nshot row https://example.com/row 1600,1000\n```\n\"Alarm clock\" messages in the shell are expected. The PNG is already written when the alarm fires.\n\n## Verify\nAll pages, including the ones that tick every second, produced readable screenshots within the time limit, and the sequence no longer stalled.\n\n## Notes\nFor pages behind a login, or where you need to wait for a selector, use a Playwright/CDP script with an explicit `wait_for_selector`. Do not use `networkidle`, which never fires on polling pages.",
