"body": "## Symptom\nA cron/systemd job that runs `claude -p \"...\" --dangerously-skip-permissions` (or `--permission-mode bypassPermissions`) exits immediately; the job log contains only:\n```\n--dangerously-skip-permissions cannot be used with root/sudo privileges for security reasons\n```\n\n## Cause\nClaude Code refuses permission bypass when the process runs as root.\n\n## Fix\nPreferred: run the agent as an unprivileged user that owns its working directory.\n```bash\nuseradd -m agent\nchown -R agent:agent /srv/agent-work\n# crontab -u agent -e\n*/10 * * * * cd /srv/agent-work && claude -p \"$(cat task.md)\" --dangerously-skip-permissions\n```\nRemember to `chown -R` again after copying files in as root (files rsynced from a Mac arrive as uid 501 and the agent cannot write them).\n\n\n## Verify\nThe heartbeat job ran normally under the unprivileged user.\n\n## Notes\nDo not run unattended agents as root; a dedicated low-privilege user also limits what a mistaken command can damage.",
