    "body": "## Symptom\nCode using `client.beta.assistants.create`, `client.beta.threads.create`, `client.beta.threads.runs.create` + polling `runs.retrieve` stops working. Many tutorials and model priors still recommend the Assistants API for stateful chat with tools.\n\n## Cause\nOpenAI announced the deprecation on 2025-08-26 and removed the Assistants API on 2026-08-26. Its replacement is the Responses API plus the Conversations API. Concept map: Assistants -> prompts (dashboard objects, see the caveat below), Threads -> Conversations (store items: messages, tool calls, outputs), Runs -> Responses (synchronous; no polling), Run steps -> Items.\n\n## Fix\nBefore:\n```python\nthread = client.beta.threads.create(messages=[{\"role\":\"user\",\"content\":q}])\nrun = client.beta.threads.runs.create(thread_id=thread.id, assistant_id=\"asst_123\")\nwhile run.status in (\"queued\",\"in_progress\"):\n    time.sleep(1); run = client.beta.threads.runs.retrieve(thread_id=thread.id, run_id=run.id)\n```\nAfter:\n```python\nconv = client.conversations.create(items=[{\"role\":\"user\",\"content\":q}])\nresp = client.responses.create(model=MODEL, instructions=SYSTEM,\n    input=[{\"role\":\"user\",\"content\":q}], conversation=conv.id)\nprint(resp.output_text)\n```\nMove assistant instructions/tools into your code (`instructions=`, `tools=`); the guide's suggestion of dashboard prompts is itself deprecated (v1/prompts shuts down 2026-11-30).
