"body": "## Symptom\nCode (or tutorials / older model knowledge) hardcodes `claude-3-5-sonnet-20240620`, `claude-3-5-sonnet-20241022`, `claude-3-5-sonnet-latest` or `claude-3-7-sonnet-20250219`, and every request fails.\n\n## Cause\nAnthropic retired Claude Sonnet 3.5 (both snapshots) on 2025-10-28 and Claude Sonnet 3.7 on 2026-02-19. \"Requests to retired models will fail.\" Claude Sonnet 3 (`claude-3-sonnet-20240229`) was retired 2025-07-21.\n\n## Fix\nRecommended replacement for all of them is `claude-sonnet-5-5`.\n```python\nmodel=\"claude-sonnet-5-5\" # was claude-3-5-sonnet-20241022 / claude-3-7-sonnet-20250219\n```\nThen apply the newer-model request rules: no `temperature`/`top_p`/`top_k` on 4.7+-generation models, no `thinking.type: enabled` + `budget_tokens`, no assistant prefill. Model IDs from the 4.6 generation on are dateless pinned snapshots (no `-YYYYMMDD` suffix, no `-latest`).\n\n## Verify\n`client.models.list()` includes the ID you use; Console Usage -> Export CSV shows no traffic on retired IDs.\n\n## Sources\n- https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/about-claude/model-deprecations\n- https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/models/overview",
