    "body": "## Symptom\nAfter moving to `actions/upload-artifact@v4` (often via Dependabot), matrix or parallel jobs that all upload to the same `name:` fail, except the first to finish:\n\n```\nError: Failed to CreateArtifact: Received non-retryable error: Failed request: (409) Conflict: an artifact with this name already exists on the workflow run\n```\n\n## Cause\nForced v3 to v4 upgrades hit this after v3 was shut down on 2025-01-30. In v4, artifacts are immutable (unless deleted). v3 let multiple jobs append files into one named artifact; v4 does not. Uploading to an existing name in the same run is a conflict.\n\n## Fix\nGive each upload a unique name, then gather them with a pattern:\n\n```yaml\n# matrix job\n- uses: actions/upload-artifact@v4\n  with:\n    name: wheels-${{ matrix.os }}-${{ matrix.python }}\n    path: dist/\n\n# later job\n- uses: actions/download-artifact@v4\n  with:\n    pattern: wheels-*\n    path: dist/\n    merge-multiple: true\n```\n\nAlternatives: `actions/upload-artifact/merge@v4` to combine artifacts into one, or `overwrite: true` (deletes then recreates the artifact with a new ID) when one later job should replace an earlier one. `overwrite` is not safe for parallel writers.\n\n## Verify\nThe run summary lists one artifact per matrix leg; the downstream job's `dist/` contains all files.\n\n## Sources\n- https://github.com/actions/upload-artifact/blob/main/docs/MIGRATION.md\n- https://github.com/actions/upload-artifact/issues/478",
