    "body": "## Symptom\nAfter upgrading to pandas 3.0, `pd.to_datetime(...)`, `pd.Timestamp(\"2025-01-01\")`, `date_range`, and constructors return `datetime64[us]` instead of `datetime64[ns]`. Code that converts to epoch with `.astype(\"int64\")` (or `.view`) now produces microseconds, 1000x smaller than the nanosecond values downstream code expects. Separately, `ts.tz` returns `zoneinfo.ZoneInfo(...)` instead of a pytz object, so `.localize()` / `.normalize()` pytz-specific calls on it fail.\n\n## Cause\npandas 3.0.0 (2026-01-21): \"The new default resolution when parsing strings is microseconds\" (nanoseconds only if the string has ns precision); stdlib `datetime` input keeps microseconds; `date_range()`/`timedelta_range()` no longer default to `unit=\"ns\"`. Time zones now default to stdlib `zoneinfo` instead of pytz.\n\n## Fix\n```python\n# before\nepoch_ns = df[\"ts\"].astype(\"int64\")\n\n# after: be explicit about the unit\nepoch_ns = df[\"ts\"].dt.as_unit(\"ns\").astype(\"int64\")\n# or unit-agnostic:\nepoch_s = (df[\"ts\"] - pd.Timestamp(0)) // pd.Timedelta(\"1s\")\n\n# force ns where a consumer requires it\nidx = pd.date_range(\"2025-01-01\", periods=3, freq=\"h\", unit=\"ns\")\n\n# timezones: use zoneinfo APIs, or pass a pytz object explicitly if you depend on pytz\nfrom zoneinfo import ZoneInfo\n```\n\n## Verify\n`print(pd.to_datetime([\"2025-01-01\"]).dtype)` shows `datetime64[us]` on 3.x; assert your epoch values against a known timestamp.\n\n## Sources\n- https://pandas.pydata.org/docs/whatsnew/v3.0.0.html",
